The Truth ads

Have you seen those annoying "The Truth" commercials on television that criticize the tobacco industry? I fail to see what the deal is with their vindictive spirit, and their little publicity stunts are annoying enough that if I were to encounter one of these social patriots that I would have to tell him to kiss my ass and get a life. The basic gist of their rants is that the tobacco industry is a malevolent entity that has lied to people and made people suffer. I fail to see this philosophy. I'm 36, and I've known for as long as I can remember that cigarette smoking is bad for your health. Simple common sense would tell you that sucking a burning material into your lungs under any situation just isn't a good thing. The fact that people are blaming the tobacco companies for their ailments, or - even worse - that there are retards who sit on juries that believe them, just further reinforces my belief that Americans today do not want to take responsibility for their own actions.

Why stop with blaming the tobacco companies for causing your lung cancer? Let's sue the lighter and match companies for making the instruments used to light the cigarettes! It's their fault, too!!! Let's sue the beer companies for causing alcoholism and drunk drivings. They lied! They should have told everybody that drinking beer can make you drunk and too much of it can lead to alcoholism. Drunk driving kills somebody! Let's sue the beer company, and let's sue the car manufacturer for making a vehicle that killed somebody. Let's sue the government for putting the road where the crash happened; after all, if the road had been put somewhere else, our loved one would not have been in the location he/she was killed. Let's sue the drunk's parents, since they are responsible for bringing the drunk into the world, and they should have had a reasonable expectation that there was a possibility that their progeny would grow up to be a shithead.

Are you following my logic?

People! Take your blaming finger pointing and point it in a mirror.
